One of Pirot's brands and specialties, the hard yellow cheese, will have its own festival day this year for the third time, on September 1, from noon till 6 pm, at the premises of the medieval fortress Momcilo's Town (Momcilov Grad).

According to the director of the Tourism Organization, Bratislav Zlatkov, the 2018 Pirot cheese festival will bring together around twenty cheese producers, mostly from the Pirot district, but also from other parts of Serbia.

– The primary goal is to promote another one of our brands, a product with a protected designation of geographic origin. Advantage is given to producers from Pirot and its district, but of course, guests from Serbia looking to present their products are welcome – Zlatkov announces.

In addition to tasting various cheeses and wines, Zlatkov adds, visitors will be able to taste traditional dairy specialties and see how they are made. The menu will also include specialties whose recipes date back to the Middle Ages.

The event is organized by the Tourism Organization of Pirot and the dairy school “Dr Obren Pejic”, with the support of the town of Pirot, and entry is free.
