Over 28,000 construction sites are active in Serbia, and the number of issued construction permits, according to the competent institutions, increased by 14.4% in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the previous year. The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has recently issued building permits for the first 376 apartments to be built for members of security forces in Nis and Vranje, with RSD 1.4 billion to be invested in the construction.
The construction of several residential-office complexes and condominiums is in progress in Belgrade and throughout Serbia, and several new shopping centers are being completed as well and are scheduled to open in the late 2018 and the early 2019. Although there are discussions in the public and among experts about the pros and cons, that is, the cost-effectiveness of retail parks and shopping centers, it seems that most agree that both these types of commercial complexes are growing more and more numerous, and the Serbian market has the capacity for several thousand square meters more, which will house the most renowned brands.
Construction companies and their subcontractors are very busy, and as facility building involves a large number of accompanying activities, it is apparent that the real estate sector is the driving engine of the growth and the development of the entire economy and that it will remain that way for at least a while, until the market becomes saturated and a balance between the supply and the demand is achieved. That is why this sector holds big business opportunities for local companies as well, which will be able to get involved in the realization of large projects.
The current projects in the real estate sector, the current state of this field and the potentials for further development are the topics of eKapija's latest Special Edition Newsletter “Real Estate and Interior Design – Market Growth Leads to New Business Opportunities”, to be published on October 2, 2018.
Among others, CBS International, CTP, Galens Invest, Zepter, MPC Properties, Jelmil, Belgrade Waterfront, Galerija podova, Saint Gobain Ecophon, CPI, Tarkett and Generali Insurance will present their products, services, solutions and projects.
