Glovo to Acquire Donesi Brand in Serbia, Montenegro and BiH

Glovo, a Spanish company for multi-category deliveries, has announced that it will take over the Donesi brand in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the foodpanda brand in Romania and Bulgaria, as well as the Pauza brand in Croatia.

Within the series of separate agreements on acquisition with one of the leading world delivery platforms, Delivery Hero Group, Glovo plans to purchase some of the companies owned by this group in central and eastern Europe, so it announces the acquisition of the foodpanda brand in Romania and Bulgaria and the Pauza brand in Croatia.

The total value of all these acquisitions is EUR 170 million.

Glovo expects the transactions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia to be finalized in the next few weeks, once all the necessary conditions are met and the regulatory authorizations are obtained, whereas the acquisition in Romania will be completed after the authorization of the competent institutions for protection of competition.

The company’s press release reminds that Glovo recently announced that it had signed a separate agreement on the purchase of Ehrana, a local Slovenian delivery company, at an undisclosed price.

– The transaction is expected to be completed in the next few months. Glovo is currently cooperating closely with Ehrana, defining the transition strategy for the users, the partners and the deliverers – the press release says.

– Our long-term strategy has always been focused on the markets where we see the opportunity to become leaders and where we can build a sustainable business model. Central and eastern Europe are a very important part of that plan. This region has truly embraced the concept of delivery platforms and we are very excited to increase our presence and our influence in the countries which continuously display an incredible growth potential – says Oscar Pierre, CEO and co-founder of Glovo.

Niklas Oestberg, CEO and co-founder of Delivery Hero, pointed out that Delivery Hero had become a leader in the Balkans in the preceding few years.

– Still, keeping in mind the many operating priorities, we believe that Glovo is in a better position to continue building the incredible user experience in this region – he said.
