The acceleration of the flow of goods at the border crossings Batrovci-Bajakovo, between Serbia and Croatia, and the continuation of the realization of the initiative of the two chambers for the establishment of control on the rail border crossing Sid-Tovernik for goods of plant and animal origin, will remain in the focus of the Serbian and Croatian economies, which, in the first six months of this year, realized a mutual foreign trade that was 35.4% higher compared to the same period in 2021, it was said at a meeting between Marko Cadez, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), and Luka Burilovic, the president of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK).

It was agreed for a meeting to be held between the competent ministries of Serbia and Croatia in the next month and a half so that the control of goods which require phytosanitary and veterinarian certificates on the rail border crossing Sid-Tovarnik would be established in the next period.

– The two chambers will continue working on the initiatives that they launched in Vinkovci in late May this year, important steps towards the authorities in both states have been made and we expect concrete progress regarding this issue in the next two months – Cadez said, the CCIS announced.

One indicator of the good cooperation of the business communities of the two countries is also illustrated by the data that the foreign trade of Serbia and Croatia amounted to EUR 805.7 million in the first six months of this year and was EUR 210.9 million higher (35.4%) compared to the same period last year.

Another argument in favor of the good cooperation of the two economies is the fact that the total number of cargo vehicles on the border crossing Batrovci-Bajakovo in both directions in 2021 amounted to 378,000, that is, there were 226,000 vehicles at the entrance to Serbia and 151,000 at the exit, whereas, last year, 5,053 local companies realized foreign trade with Croatia.

Regarding the energy situation in the world and the region, Cadez and Burilovic agreed the continuation of cooperation in the field of energy and the possibilities of gas supply from the LNG terminal on Krk.

Ahead of the upcoming international wine fair Open Balkans Wine Vision, which will gather the most important world producers of wine, including 15 Croatian wineries, at the Belgrade Fair from September 1 to 4, Cadez invited distributors and importers from Croatia to take part in this important regional event and be guests of Belgrade.
