On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Lidl Srbija opened the contest “Strong. Brave. Important.” this year as well. The contest aims to strengthen the position of women in the business world in Serbia and promote their products. It lasts until March 31, by which time all interested women entrepreneurs may apply so that their products would be included in the offer within one thematic week in over 65 Lidl stores in Serbia.

Eligible participants are women entrepreneurs, companies, registered agricultural properties in Serbia which are active in production in the segments of food, food supplements or cosmetics (care and beauty products), fully owned by women. All interested women entrepreneurs can find information about the details of taking part in the contest and the manner of application on the company’s official website at www.lidl.rs.

In the second half of 2023, after the contest, the selection of the products and after the finished processes of control and listing of products, they will become available on Lidl store shelves within one thematic week where Lidl’s consumers will be able to buy and enjoy the selected products of Serbian women entrepreneurs.

– After the successfully carried out campaign “Strong. Brave. Important.” which took place last year, during which we supported and promoted 26 women entrepreneurs and included 32 products on the list in the short term, we decided to dedicate this year’s International Women’s Day to ladies as well and to fight for their equality in the business world. We will renew the cooperation with certain participants in last year’s contest, but also give an opportunity to new women entrepreneurs to be part of this project – said Milica Stevanovic, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Lidl Srbija.

In cooperation with the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Lidl has also carried out a study on the support to female entrepreneurial activities and initiatives, which has shown that, in Serbia, only 25% of the companies are owned by women. The support they need the mostly pertains to spaces for the placement of products, higher visibility, education and mentoring – which they are getting through “Strong. Brave. Important.”.

For example, Marija Bojovic, the owner of Zlatiborska Tradicija, which produces homemade rakija from wild pears, after cooperating with Lidl, had the biggest demand and established new partnerships, so she is now preparing new business premises in Belgrade and expanding her sales network.

As a reminder, Lidl Srbija has signed the UN Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and publicly obliged to honor and promote the principle of equality within the company, whereby it has proven that it supports women in all segments of its operations.
