Serbia First in the World to Open Factory of Juices for Dogs – Distributors Worldwide Interested in Unique Product

In early July, in Petrovac na Mlavi, a unique factory for the production of juices for dogs – King’s Choice – opened, certainly the first such factory in Serbia, and all things considered, in the world as well. The idea to create this innovative product for dogs which will be perceived as a quality product that’s different from all others in the market, came about four years ago, and the search for ideal recipes took the most time, Nikola Gakovic of the company says for eKapija.

– Through research, we concluded that the world market did not offer a juice for dogs. Right after we realized this, we started developing the idea, that is, the recipe, which really took a long time. With the help of experts (deans and technologists), we bravely commenced the production on July 4 – Gakovic says.

The product was first presented in May at the Zumark fair in Bologna, and according to Nikola, the response was fantastic. Over 100 distributors worldwide (USA, China, Russia, of course, Serbia as well) showed an interest in their product.

– The production takes place under strictly controlled conditions and each step is in line with the HACCP standards. The production sector is equipped with the most modern machines which enable unobstructed production. The factory also features a laboratory, equipped in line with the most modern standards – our interviewee says.

The entire process from the idea to the realization, according to our interviewee, was very demanding and difficult. Everybody in the team made maximum effort.

– We are trying to overcome all obstacles in the best way possible. We recover twice as quickly and we continue faster, stronger and better. After we launched the production, the biggest challenge we are facing are the purchasers-distributors themselves, more precisely, the supply. The idea is to place our juice for dogs everywhere pets are welcome: pet-friendly hotels, retail facilities, pet-friendly cafes, grooming salons and veterinarian offices. One of the challenges is also the big competition between the distributors which supply the pet industry. We hope to realize our goal, which is to have King’s Choice juice available in every pet shop, restaurant, café, hotel etc. – Gakovic points out.


They currently have seven employees, but they plan to soon increase that number and to introduce the second and third shifts in the production process.

– The interest in the product is truly big, and accordingly, the next step is to expand the capacities for sure. We plan to also introduce a second shift, and maybe a third one as well, if needed. That way, we will ensure continuous 24/7 production. Production expansion is inevitable, because once we’ve conquered the Serbian market, we will focus on other countries as well, that is, the whole world – our interviewee concludes.
