The signed credit arrangement of EUR 20 million is part of an investment cycle of over EUR 100 million, which Atlantic Grupa is planning over the next three years in the territory of the Republic of Serbia
Atlantic Start d.o.o., a member of Atlantic Grupa, and the German development finance institution DEG (Deutsche Entwicklungs Gesellschaft), have signed a loan agreement worth EUR 20 million with the aim of ensuring the funds for the financing of the investments in Stark’s development, and which are part of the strong investment cycle of Atlantic Grupa, which pertains to the overall operations of the company in the territory of the Republic of Serbia. The concrete financial package pertains primarily to modernization and an increase of the production and logistics capacities in Atlantic Stark. Atlantic also plans additional investments in new production facilities and the creation of a regional center for the production and development of coffee.
In the market of Serbia, Atlantic Grupa plans an investment of over EUR 100 million over the next three years. This investment cycle has already started and investments of over EUR 15 million have been realized so far. The majority of said investments, nearly EUR 53 million, pertains to production and logistics capacities in Atlantic Stark, primarily the new Smoki factory, which is the biggest individual investment of Atlantic Grupa.
Along with the abovesaid, considerable investments are planned in other business segments of Atlantic Grupa in Serbia, in the amount of around EUR 50 million. These are primarily investments in the distribution of consumer goods, where Atlantic is one of the leading players in the market, as well as the production and sale of coffee. Atlantic Grupa is a renowned regional producer of coffee, with an ambition to create a regional development center for coffee in Serbia.
In relation to that, the acquisition of Strauss Adriatic and an investment of over EUR 40 million is planned, conditioned on the approval of the Commission for Protection of Competition, which procedure is still in progress.
DEG and Atlantic Grupa are connected by a long history of successful cooperation in the development of business operations, which began with Atlantic’s first acquisition of Cedevita in 2001. Another step forward dates back to 2006, when DEG recapitalized Atlantic Grupa before the company was listed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange, and it remained Atlantic’s shareholder all the way until 2014.
