One Step Closer to Reconstruction of Plaza Near Vuk Monument – Preparation of Technical Documentation for This Space Included in City’s Public Procurement Plan

For years now, citizens have been tripping over the dislocated slabs on the dilapidated plaza near the Vuk Monument, waiting for the space to be thoroughly reconstructed. Several years ago, the preliminary design for the redevelopment of this plaza was prepared. Since then, the city has been making sporadic announcements that a thorough redevelopment of that space is planned (the most recent significant one was the announcement of the former mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, from March 2021), but without any concrete dynamics or deadlines for the beginning of the works.

A certain step forward regarding this topic was indicated at the session of the Temporary Organ this Friday, where, as it has been unofficially confirmed for us, everything that had been announced ahead of the session was adopted. Among more than 250 items, in regular and summary procedures, was also the one on giving approval for the amendments to the annual Public Procurement Plan of the Secretariat for Investments. Within the planned investments of this secretariat, among other things, the item about the preparation of the technical documentation for the reconstruction of the plaza near the Vuk Monument was added. The estimated value of that job is RSD 20 million without the VAT.

So far, regarding the planned future reconstruction of that space, the preliminary design is prepared, for which Andzor Inzenjering from Novi Sad was responsible, a job which was completed according to the contract with the city.

Based on all this, it is clear that the preparation of the technical documentation necessary for the reconstruction of the plaza is to follow now. What remains to be seen, when the public procurement procedure for the preparation of technical documentation opens, is whether the selected designer will use the existing preliminary design prepared by Andzor and continue the further preparation of the technical documentation (all the necessary projects up to the issuing of the construction permit), or everything is to be done from scratch, including a new preliminary design, disregarding the existing one.

The existing preliminary design was prepared within the tender that the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency opened over seven years ago, and which sought the preparation of technical documentation for the development of this plaza on both sides, both the side where the monument is located and the opposite side, which leans on the complex of technical faculties.
