Project of Construction of Third Section of Trans-Balkans Electrical Corridor Launched – Prequalification Call for Construction of Double Power Line from Bajina Basta to Obrenovac

Elektromreza Srbije has opened the call for prequalification within the regional program of energy efficiency in the transfer system III - Novi DV 2x400 kV Bajina Basta Obrenovac.

This is the project of the new double power line Bajina Basta-Obrenovac, which will be the third section of the Trans-Balkans Electrical Energy Corridor, the regional project of the construction of a system for the transfer of electrical energy with a voltage level of 400 kV, which will connect East and West Europe.

The job entails the extension of the existing substation TS 220/35 kV Bajina Basta to a level of 400 kV, and it encompasses the designing, procurement, delivery, assembly, testing and commissioning.

Two new 400/220 kV, 2x400 MVA transformers will thereby be installed and a 400 kV double busbar switchyard which consists of seven bays will be built.

Also, the job includes the equipping of the Obrenovac substation with one new 400 kV DV connection and the adaptation of one existing DV 400 kV connection at the Obrenovac substation.

So far, within the works on the construction of the Trans-Balkans Corridor, for the transfer of electricity, the first section from Pancevo to the Romanian city of Resita and the second section from Kragujevac to Kraljevo have been completed.


After the third section, what remains to be done is the section from Bajina Basta to the border with Montenegro and the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The tender for the construction of the double power line Bajina Basta-Obrenovac, 109 kilometers long, according to the announcements of EMS, was supposed to be opened back in 2022.
