Construction of retail park and new open market begins in Srbobran

The construction of a new retail park and a space for a new open market, in the location of the old main open market, has begun in Srbobran, the municipal administration announced. According to the set plan, four stores of well-known brands will be opened and a new open market space will be raised in line with the modern standards, and 40 workers will be employed. The value of the investment, as said, is EUR 2 million.

The investor in the new Retail Park is Rade Krunic, the famous football player from the Turkish Fenerbahce.

– The plan is for the project to be completed by the end of this year and for all stores to be opened. On the same parcel on which it was located until now, with a minimal shift, a new open market will be built, and the plan is for the surface to be covered with interlocking pavers, to set up canopied counters and leave enough room for the usual trade outside the counters. Also, a new access from Dositejeva Street will be developed and sufficient parking space will be secured, so that the new whole would enable the provision of services at the highest level, to the satisfaction of both the customers and the sellers – Radivoj Debeljacki, the president of the Municipality of Srbobran, announced following the beginning of the works.

According to him, a traffic route with the entrance and exit for the entire space will be built around the retail park, and the shopping center and the new open market will not be separated by any kind of fence.

– The plan is to expand Dositejeva Street and secure additional parking space next year. The new open market plaza will have an area of around 2,000 m2, of which around 1,000 m2 will be left for the tenants without counters, for the so-called “cubes”, or for the parking space for the tenants and visitors. Let me repeat, we are getting features which are good for all people of Srbobran, we are creating new jobs, we are getting the opportunity not to have to go to do every serious shopping to the surrounding cities, to similar shopping center. The works are extensive, but by the end of the year, we will have new stores and the new open market working. Our condition was for the open market to remain in the same place, to secure a new traffic route and a direct connection with the public space and we have managed to agree all this with the investor. Also, the Orthodox cross which is located on the plaza of the old open market will be restored and set up in front of the facility, with the blessing of the Backa Eparchy and the Church Municipality of Srbobran, which will also carry out this part of the works – said Debeljacki.
