Big changes announced in Niska Banja – Konstantinove Terme, reconstruction of hotels and new tourism capacities

A presentation dedicated to the development of Niska Banja was held in this famous spa center. Those attending the event had the opportunity to hear about the numerous plans and projects that would considerably improve the tourism offer and infrastructure of Niska Banja. The most important presented plans are the reconstruction of Hotel Serbia, which, as announced, would feature Konstantinove Terme, the biggest baths in the Balkans, and the construction of a whole new hotel, called Dinic. The king’s villa is also to be reconstructed and what’s new is the construction of a new sports complex, Vrtop. In addition to the aqua park, the new plans will completely change the image of this spa.

Dusan Zivkovic, the president of the municipality of Niska Banja, emphasized the importance of the planning documentation, which had long impeded the development of Niska Banja.

– Plenty has been done in the past years, but, of course, there’s still a lot of paperwork that needs to be adapted. So, we will have to change some decisions at the assembly so as to accelerate the reconstruction of the existing hotels that have been neglected in Niska Banja. But, of course, that will enable investors to get new parcels more easily – added Zivkovic.

According to the data, in 2023, Niska Banja recorded 175,000 commercial overnight stays, which is a good number, but the local authorities are not satisfied with it.

As Dragoslav Pavlovic, the mayor of Nis, pointed out, when it comes to new accommodation capacities, at one of the upcoming sessions of the City Assembly of Nis, the detailed regulation plan should be adopted, encompassing Niska Banja and the wider area of this municipality, and, at that session, the particulars should be resolved which would be significant for the possibility of the construction of new hotels in the spa.
