The City of Belgrade has adopted the Action Plan of moving for the first phase of the first line of the Belgrade Subway. This plan is the key guideline in the process of expropriation and moving that will be carried out during the realization of this big infrastructural project, according to the website of the PUC Belgrade Metro and Train.

The plan envisages the rights and additional measures of assistance, with the aim of securing a just compensation for all citizens who will be affected by the construction of the subway, with special emphasis on the protection of the jeopardized and vulnerable groups.

– The Action Plan is a very important step toward realizing our goals of creating sustainable, quick and efficient public transport in Belgrade, while at the same time honoring the rights of the citizens – Andreja Mladenovic, the director of the PUC Belgrade Metro and Train, stated on this occasion.

He added that, in the coming period, the company would organize public consultations with the citizens interested in the Action Plan of moving in cooperation with the city municipalities whose citizens were affected by the project of the construction of the first phase of the first line of the subway.

The procedures of expropriation and moving, as well as all other aspects of this project, will be realized in line with the standards defined by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), whereby the ecological and social sustainability of the whole project will be secured, it is added.

Line 1 stretches from the north of the city to the southeast, between the rivers Sava and Danube, passing through the historical city center. This line will be built in two phases.

The first phase of Line 1 encompasses 15.4 kilometers of an underground subway network with 15 stations and 10 operating shafts, from the Makis Depot to the Pancevo Bridge. This project phase will include the physical moving of the owners of residential properties and the economic moving of companies, the plan says.

Although, initially, the first phase included 14 stations and ended with the Danube station, the recent reorganization of the phases extended the first phase to encompass the Pancevo Bridge stations and a connected location for the placement of the tunnel-boring machine (TBM).

Public invitation for second phase

The PUC Belgrade Metro and Train has also opened the public invitation for the preparation of the action plan of moving for Line 1 Phase 2 of the project of the construction of the Belgrade Subway. The details (in Serbian) can be found HERE.

It consists of six future subway stations (Karaburma – Ada Huja – Karaburma – Mirijevo Blvd – 7th Belgrade Gymnasium – Mirijevo), three shafts, the Mirijevo substation and the route for the laying down of cables from the Beograd 20 substation to the Mirijevo substation.
