Is agreement on compensation for organization of building land ahead - key problem with new investor for "Prokop" ?

"Serbian Railways" expect that the City of Belgrade and Canadian-Hungarian-Cyprus company "Trigranit holding", which won on the international tender for the completion of the construction of railway station "Prokop", will reach the agreement on the amount of the compensation for organization of the city building land prior to the end of March 2007. Immediately after that the final contract should follow, on the basis of which about 200m EUR will be invested in "Prokop".

The first phase of the completion of the future main railway station in Belgrade, better known as "Prokop", implies construction of 180,000 square meters of space, 70,000 square meters of which will be turned into commercial-office space intended for rent, while 10,000 square meters will be at the disposal within the very station.

The second phase of the completion of "Prokop" implies construction of additional 150,000-170,000 square meters of office space, around the railway station. Then the construction of 2 light freight station in Kijev and Zemun Polje will follow. The trains will be assembled on the tracks of these two stations, because "Prokop" is planned to be a transient station.

"Trigranit holding" is famous by the similar reference in Budapest – "West end city center". By the way, "Trigranit" is a Canadian company that operates in Europe through Cyprus. The name of the company is connected to famous billionaire Peter Munk.

The completion of "Prokop" is very important to Belgrade, because the relocation of the existing station will result in about 80 ha of attractive building land in the Sava Amphitheater, with the possible investments of 4 billion EUR.
