The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has announced an early public inspection on the occasion of the preparation of the spatial plan of the special-purpose area of the infrastructural corridor of the railroad Brestovac-North Macedonian border. The plan envisages the reconstruction of the rail corridor from Nis to the south border of Serbia, as well as the construction of over 60 bridges, two tunnels and the construction and reconstruction of the station buildings that are located on the route.

The reconstruction and modernization of the one-track railroad, around 132 kilometers long, from Brestovac to the North Macedonian border, entails a new construction or reconstruction of all the structures on the route.

On the Brestovac-Grdelica section, around 34 kilometers long, the plan is to build seven bridges and reconstruct or build four station buildings.

From Grdelica to Suva Morava, on a section around 33 kilometers long, the plan is to build 22 bridges, to build two new tunnels and to reconstruct one existing tunnel, as well as to reconstruct or build four station buildings.

The Suva Morava-North Macedonian border section, around 65 kilometers long, according to the plan, should get 24 bridges, and a reconstruction or construction of nine station buildings is planned as well.

De-leveled crossings with the road network are planned on all sections.

The planned speed is up to 160 km/h.

Let us remind that, recently, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Goran Vesic and Minister of Transport and Communications of North Macedonia Blagoj Bocvarski signed the Memorandum on cooperation between the relevant ministries of the two countries on the establishment of a high-performance railway network.

The memorandum envisages the implementation of the project of construction of a high-speed railway from Nis to Skopje, for which the two countries will jointly seek funding from the European Union, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

Vesic previously announced that the designing of the Nis-Presevo section, 135 kilometers long, was in progress, and that the North Macedonian partners would design around 50 km from the border to Skopje.
