Plans for Construction of New Stadium in Kragujevac Not Abandoned – Works on Cika Daca Announced for This Year

The beginning of the construction of the Cika Daca stadium is expected for this year, announced Nikola Dasic, the president of the Temporary Organ of the City of Kragujevac.

Let us remind that, recently, the Ministry of Public Investment halted the tender for the services of the preparation of the main design, the works and the services of the preparation of the as-built design for the Cika Daca stadium in Kragujevac, because all the submitted bids exceeded the estimated value of the public procurement and the available funds.

The commission, as added in the decision, concluded that the conditions for adopting the decision on the awarding of the contract were not met.

Bids by two groups of bidders had been sent in response to the tender, and they asked for 13.8 and 13.2 billion dinars respectively for this job. Let us remind that the estimated value of the works is RSD 9.1 billion (around EUR 77.6 million) without the VAT.

As announced on the city’s website, Dasic announced on RTS that, within the Leap into the Future – Serbia EXPO 2027 program, investments would be made in Kragujevac in the construction of the stadium, but also the University Clinical Center and the FILUM building.

He also pointed out that the new model of the electric Panda was expected from the Stellantis factory, which would lead to new jobs.

– It is a great pleasure to see Kragujevac, out of all places, in the focus of this program and that we have an opportunity to, at an accelerated pace, as president Vucic said, be a city where it will be visible how much of a transformation has happened in a short period of time. We are looking at the realization of range of projects, from those which have been started, such as the North Ring Road, the construction of the Innovation District in the location next to the Data Center, the new industrial zone in Cvetojevac and a whole range of other projects, which will make Kragujevac, which is already much different than the city it was fifteen years ago, completely different and ready for the future – Dasic said.
